KC Concepcion on her most comfortable role yet

MANILA  (Mabuhay) — ACTRESS KC Concepcion believes she finally found her niche in show business, doing bida-kontrabida roles on television.

The Kapamilya star played the role of Alexis Ganzon in primetime series “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,” which ended last week.

Concepcion summed up her character as fierce, undaunted and will do everything for the ones she loves, even if it will harm other people.

Within three months, the actress said doing bida-kontrabida roles is where she’s most comfortable at. She’s not afraid to experiment on her character, inject her personality on Alexis and try something different on television.

“This is a memorable journey for me. Alam ko na nag-iwan kami ng aral sa maraming tao. Malaking bagay sa akin ‘yun, that the viewers accepted me as bida-kontrabida. I never thought na magagampanan ko yung ganitong role,” said Concepcion.

KC said she learned to love her craft more, to gamble on roles and to not be afraid of how the audience will perceive her character on television.

Alexis is the role she’s long been waiting for.

“Maganda din pala na babaliin mo ‘yung rules mo. This experience for me has been a turning point. Life changing for me ‘yung character,” said the actress.

The show biz royalty then clarified that doing kontrabida role is not a conscious effort on her part to veer away from what her parents, Megastar Sharon Cuneta and seasoned actor Gabby Concepcion, used to be doing on the small and big screen.

“My Mom, she’s comfortable there (doing lead roles). If it’s not broken, why fix it. She’s the megastar because of what she’s done and how she’s done it. Iba ‘yung attack ko, iba ‘yung breed ng bida-kontrabida, iba na din ‘yung panahon ngayon,” she said.

She’s happy on the comments given by her mom on her performance. The megastar was very proud of KC’s role and would sometimes tweet about it on social media.

Concepcion said she never expected good words from anyone, especially her mother, because her role is not the conventional type, but she’s happy that she made everyone proud, “For her to finally say something na nakaka-uplift, being a megastar in this industry and more as a mother, ang laging encouragement nun sa akin ‘yun.”

When asked what wisdom Sharon imparted to her once she decided to enter show business five years ago, Concepcion replied: “When in doubt, simplify.”

She added, “Gusto kong aralin itong craft, from my nuisances, ‘yung mga tingin ko, emotion ko. Gusto ko totoo, na maramdaman ng tao. As an actress, I’m so thankful that I learned and still learning from the best.” (MNS)
