John Lloyd wants to venture into directing
John Lloyd Cruz hopes to direct a movie in the future.
Cruz said he realized that he wants to give directing a try when he attended the Berlin International Film Festival last February.
Cruz was among the stars of Lav Diaz’s “Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis” which won the Silver Bear Alfred Bauer Prize at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival.
“Hindi ko pa alam kung kaya ko ang ginagawa niya, basta bahala na,” he said, referring to Cathy Garcia Molina, who directed most of his blockbuster movies.
While he still has no concrete plans, Cruz said: “I’m excited to discover my own voice when it comes to filmmaking.”
As to the genre that he wants to work on, the actor said: “Wala pa eh. Sobrang lawak kasi ng mundo, kahit ano pwede mong magawa.”
According to Molina, Cruz had a hand in the ending of his latest movie “Just the 3 of Us,” which also stars Jennylyn Mercado.
But Cruz refused to take any credit. “Ganon lang naman kami eh, kasi sobrang collaborative rin ni direk,” he said.
“I think hindi naman lahat ng directors ganon. Maraming directors ‘yung ‘Ay, hindi. Ang gusto ko ang masusunod.’ Ganon lang, batuhan lang kami ng naiisip namin. Kasi ‘di ba at the end of the day, one person cannot make a film. Kailangan may tulong ng iba. So ‘yun ‘yon, manifestation lang ‘yun non,” he added. (MNS)
