MANILA, Dec 21 (Mabuhay) — JENNYLYN Mercado does not feel the pressure to take home the best actress trophy in the Metro Manila Film Festival for the second straight year.
“Ayokong isipin yun kasi nung nakaraan e wala din namang pressure at wala din akong expectations. Sa akin, ginawa ko lang yung trabaho ko. Pinaganda ko siya at binigay ko yung lahat,” said Mercado, who won the award for hit romantic comedy “English Only, Please” in 2014.
“Ayoko na may pressure e. Ever since nagsimula ako sa industriyang ito ay hindi ko binigyan yung sarili ko ng pressure at never akong nakipag compete. Nakikipag compete ako sa sarili ko pero hindi sa iba,” she added.
On December 25, the GMA talent will headline drama comedy movie “Walang Forever” opposite Jericho Rosales and under the direction of Dan Villegas.
Mercado said that even though “English Only, Please” and “Walang Forever” have the same producers and director, the upcoming flick promises to be different and will cater to all ages.
“Walang Forever” tells the story of Ethan, played by Rosales, a Taiwan-based website developer who falls in love with Mia (Mercado), an accomplished and well-known romantic-comedy writer.
The actress described her character as reserved and guarded unlike her prior roles.
“Mas stiff, mas seryoso sa buhay at makikita mo doon sa character na mas nag-iisip siya kesa sa nagsasalita, which is mas mahirap for me kasi pag tahimik ka hindi wala ka na dapat na maramdaman.
Dapat maramdaman at makita ng tao yung pakiramdam ko,” she said.
Mercado said that even though it’s a feel-good movie, the characters and plot have depth.
Mercado is also thankful that Quantum Films, MJM Productions, Tuko Films and Buchi Boy Productions tapped her once again for another MMFF movie and gave her a chance to work with Rosales.
“First time ko to work with him and na-appreciate ko siya kasi napakabait pala niyang tao,” she said.
“Masaya siyang katrabaho kasi sobrang galing siya. May mga times naman talaga na hindi ka kondisyon pero mararamdaman mo yung suporta niya. Tutulungan ka niya talaga at pag magaling ang ka-eksena mo e parang madadala ka na din.”
Joining them in the movie are Jerald Napoles, Cai Cortez, Nico Antonio and Lorna Tolentino. (MNS)
