ILOILO CITY – The intensified campaign launched by the local police here has yielded 140 loose firearms since October 2025 until May this year.

The firearms were formally turned over to the Regional Civil Security Unit 6 (Western Visayas) in a ceremony at the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) headquarters on Monday.

“We thank the community for its continued support in our campaign against loose firearms that may be used in illegal activities,” ICPO Director Col. Wilbert Parilla said in a statement.

The firearms were voluntarily surrendered through the 10 stations of the ICPO, Iloilo City Mobile Force Company and the city headquarters.

“This initiative reflects the trust and confidence of the community in the police, as well as their strong commitment to maintaining peace and order,” Parilla added.

The campaign was also part of the continuing efforts of the ICPO to prevent crimes and further ensure security in this highly urbanized city.

The ICPO also conducted a two-day License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) Caravan on May 7-8 to further promote responsible and lawful firearm ownership.

During the caravan, which catered to barangay officials, city hall employees and members of the general public, 93 applicants availed of LTOPF registration and renewal, while six renewed their firearm registration.

Meanwhile, 65 individuals processed their National Police Clearance, 76 underwent neuro-psychiatric examination and 77 availed of drug testing services. (PNA)
