‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ dominates worldwide weekend box office
‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ shot to the number one position this weekend, according to ComScore’s official worldwide weekend box office estimates for the weekend of June 26.
The action-packed movie, which stars Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum and Charlotte gainsbourg, hits the screens 20 years after its predecessor, ‘Independence Day’. It took $143.7 million worldwide over the weekend.
The movie was followed by Disney’s latest animated underwater hit ‘Finding Dory’, which took $110.2 million, with Daniel Radcliffe and Morgan Freeman’s ‘Now You See Me 2′ claiming third place with $56.5 million.
