(Relaxnews) – A new teaser has been released for the star-studded film based on the true story of a hiking expedition up Mount Everest that turned tragic when the climbers became caught in a blizzard.

In an ominous presentiment, Jason Clarke’s character Rob Hall opens the three-minute trailer saying, “Human beings simply aren’t built to function at the cruising altitude of a 747. Everest is, without doubt, the most dangerous place on Earth.”

The story is based on the real-life events of May 1996, when eight climbers died after being caught in a blizzard.

The official IMAX trailer promises heartstopping action and edge-of-seat drama with fast-moving scenes of nature’s brute and merciless power putting a group of men’s strength and will to the test.

The star-studded cast includes Jason Clarke, Jake Gyllenhaal, Keira Knightley, Josh Brolin, Sam Worthington, Emily Watson and Robin Wright.

The film was shot on location in Nepal, the foothills of Everest and the Italian Alps.

“Everest” hits theaters September 18.
