From Sports Illustrated to L’Oréal Paris: a look at Irina Shayk’s faultless rise to stardom

(Relaxnews) – The Russian model Irina Shayk officially became a L’Oréal Paris ambassador on October 28. This is a highly-coveted role which ranks her among the most influential top models in the world. Let’s take a look at Irina Shayk’s gradual but steady rise to the top.

Irina Shayk did not experience the same meteoric rise to fame as models such as Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Cara Delevingne. Of a different generation, her path has been different but she has built a mistake-free career enabling her to join the very select clan of L’Oréal Paris ambassadors.

Sensual and striking curves

Despite her dream figure, Irina Shayk does not have the most common shape of a catwalk queen. She has a sculptural body, sensual curves and full lips, which inevitably give her an ultra-sexy look. She started her career posing in swimwear for Sports Illustrated and made it to the cover of the magazine in early 2011. She also became an ambassador for the Intimissimi lingerie brand in 2009.

Unlike many other lingerie models who find it impossible to break into the very closed fashion world, Irina Shayk stood out because of her extraordinary charisma. Her green eyes, olive skin, curves and poise enthralled many photographers who helped her rise quickly to the rank of supermodel. She also was successful very early on in making the front cover of major fashion magazines such as GQ, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue Spain.

Courted by big-name fashion designers  

As the years went by, Irina Shayk was increasingly approached by ready-to-wear brands and fashion houses. The ex-girlfriend of the footballer Cristiano Ronaldo gradually moved up the ladder, doing one campaign after another for brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Avon, Morellato, Fay, Guess, Agent Provocateur, Roberto Cavalli and Bebe. Brands that she remained faithful to year after year.

At the same time, she made her mark on the catwalks modelling for big names in fashion such as Givenchy, Jeremy Scott, Kanye West, Philipp Plein, Marc Jacobs, Giles and Diane von Furstenberg. Increasingly in demand for the various fashion weeks, she is now a key player in the world of high fashion.

Ambassador for L’Oréal Paris

Given her determination, charisma, and unique beauty, it’s no surprise that L’Oréal Paris has chosen her to become one of its prestigious ambassadors.

Irina is joining a myriad of other ambassadors such as Karlie Kloss, Barbara Palvin, Lara Stone, Eva Longoria, Julianne Moore and Doutzen Kroes. She is expected to feature in a L’Oréal Paris campaign soon. She is also expected to be at the next Cannes Film Festival which is partnered with the L’Oréal brand.
