TUGUEGARAO CITY – More roads in Tuguegarao City are now impassable as the Cagayan River continues to swell and the water level at the Buntun Bridge surpassed the warning level due to rains from the series of weather disturbances in the past weeks.

In a social media post Tuesday morning, the Tuguegarao City Information Office said the water level at the Buntun Bridge had reached 11.6 meters as of 9 a.m., above the 11-meter critical level.

The Capatan overflow bridge in the city remains impassable.

Also, impassable roads include the Gomez Extension, Delpol St. in Centro 11, Macapagal Crossing, Panacanauan Avenue, Linao Carig Road, Balao St., Gonzaga St. in Centro 10, Aquino St. in Annafunan East, Cabalza and Lunnay Sts. in Atulayan Sur, Taguinod St. in at Annafunan and Linao East, Linao Carig Road, Aguinaldo Extension, Macapagal Avenue, and Fermin St. in Atulayan Norte.

Work in government offices in the city has been suspended effective 11 a.m. Tuesday.

“Due to the continuous rise of water level, traffic congestion attributed to numerous impassable roads, and to make way for emergency response and disaster relief operations, work in government officers is suspended effective today at 11 a.m.,” a social media post by Mayor Maila Ting Que said.

“The heads of officers have the discretion to suspend their operations earlier than stated, provided that all the pending clients are accommodated. They may also adopt alternative work arrangements.”

An announcement for class suspension from Kindergarten up to Grade 12, including the Alternative Learning System, was made Monday night.

Que also appealed to her constituents living in areas that are not flooded to stay home instead of going to the malls and taking photos of the flood.

“We beg you all to stay indoors, yun pong hindi flooded areas (those in areas that are not flooded), so we can go to the areas that need our help unhampered,” she said. (PNA)
