(Relaxnews) – After almost a year since announcing it at CES in January, UK-based Fitbug has finally launched its low-priced Fitbug Orb for a sweet $49.95.
Similar to the Misfit Shine, the tiny gadget can be worn in a variety of ways, such as on a belt, the wrist, a lanyard, or clipped beneath clothing, to track sleep and activity metrics, including steps, distance, calories burned, and speed. Plus it uses Bluetooth Smart to sync the data to a free app to a smartphone.
In addition, users can access the company’s online digital coaching platform KiK to set nutrition and fitness goals. Based on your Fitbug data and algorithms, KiK can suggest targets while providing feedback, tips, and encouragement via emails and push notifications on the app.
The Orb comes in three colors (white, black, and pink) and is wirelessly compatible with the newest iPhones and iPads, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0.
Compared to the likes of Fitbit (which has sued Fitbug for alleged similarities in branding) and Jawbone, Fitbug has been more low-key in the fitness tracking space with its focus on economical pricing. Also available are the Fitbug WOW, a $79.99 connected weight scale, and two activity trackers, the Fitbug Air and Fitbug Go, both priced at $49.95.
