MANILA – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in partnership with the local government unit (LGU), has completed a community concrete road project, with a reinforced concrete pipe culvert, in Barangay San Jose, San Mariano town, Isabela,

Alan Tanjusay, Undersecretary for Inclusive-Sustainable Peace and Special Concerns, led the ceremonial turnover and ribbon cutting of the 1-kilometer road project worth PHP10 million.

The joint community project will benefit 7,700 households in 199 barangays in Isabela province.

Tanjusay led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of two solar drying pavements in Barangay Asinga in Baggao, Cagayan on Sept. 18.

The project is designed to enhance corn production and raise productivity of the farmers in the province.

The concrete road and drying pavements are sub-projects under the DSWD’s Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) and the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA).

The KALAHI-CIDSS is a program that uses the Community-Driven Development (CDD) approach to reduce poverty and promote empowerment and community volunteerism.

The PAMANA, as one of the modalities of KALAHI-CIDSS, aims to improve access of conflict-affected barangays to basic social services and responsive, transparent, and accountable local governments. (PNA)
