MANILA, Apr 24 (Mabuhay) –At the launch of his tech startup Dingdong PH,  Dingdong Dantes said he is where he is now because of all the people who “did not hesitate to open their doors for me.”

“As a backgrounder, I wasn’t born and raised with a silver spoon. I was born and raised by hardworking parents. Dahil lima kaming magkakapatid, siyempre there are times that my parents would fall short in our budget for school. But we are extremely blessed to have relatives,” Dingdong shared.

The Kapuso Primetime King revealed that they took on help from people  who volunteered to pay their tuition, adding he really was “a scholar of so many people.”

“Kaya ako nakapagtapos,” Dingdong continued. “They did this without thinking twice.”

The people who helped them, their relatives mainly, did not ask anything in return.

“Pero kung meron man yang mga hinihingi ‘yan, ay siyempre maging successful kami sa buhay at gamitin sana naming mga magkakapatid ang opportunidad na ‘to para makapagpabuti at mas maging mabuti, hindi lang para sa ‘min kung hindi para sa kapwa,” he said.

Dingdong has also experienced the generosity of the people in the entertainment industry who gave him projects “that not only paved the way for me para marating ko kung nasaan ako ngayon, but also to transform lives in many ways.”

“Dati sa pagsasayaw ko noon marami pa akong natutunan. Siyempre bilang aktor, minsan bilang isang direktor, at higit sa lahat, [bilang] isang storyteller,” he added.

Because of his experiences, Dingdong promised himself to pay the kindness forward.

“Sinasabi ko nga sa sarili ko, kapag dumating yung panahon na may kakayahan na akong tumulong sa iba, pag-tatapusin ko mga kapatid ko sa pag-aaral at sisikapin ko ring makatulong sa iba,” he said.

“People opened their doors for me and I personally experienced how these opportunities, when used properly, can help improve one’s life,” he added.

Dingdong is proud to say that all his siblings graduated from college and he even has two of them, Vicki and Aya, as part of his Dingdong team.

“When the pandemic happened, we realized that the time is already ripe to open doors for other members of the society,” he continued.
