MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday said no Filipino was directly affected in the Israeli airstrike that targeted senior Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar.
“The DFA’s latest report from our Embassy in Doha is that no Filipino has been directly affected by the strike. The Embassy continues to check on our kababayans,” it said in a statement.
It reiterated the Philippine Embassy in Doha’s advice to Filipinos to remain calm, to monitor news from credible sources, and to heed the advice of local authorities.
It also reminded the nationals to stay indoors and avoid public spaces unless absolutely necessary.
Qatar, currently serving as one of the two Arab countries mediating talks between Israel and Hamas, condemned the strike on Tuesday as “cowardly.”
The Qatari government confirmed that one Qatari security official was killed in the attack, while other members of its security forces were injured. (PNA)
