BACOLOD CITY – Police teams arrested three suspects in separate buy-busts that yielded PHP5.34 million worth of suspected shabu in two cities in Negros Occidental over the weekend, the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) reported.

In this capital city, operatives of Bacolod City Police Office Police Station 1 seized PHP2.38 million worth of the illegal drug from alias “Jo,” 21, along Palanca Road early Sunday morning.

“Casing, surveillance and validation operations revealed that he is a virtual assistant and allegedly distributes illegal drugs to his customers in Barangays 12, 16 and 35, as well as in other neighboring barangays in Bacolod City,” the PRO-NIR report said.

Appropriate charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared for filing against the suspect.

On Friday, operatives from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit seized 100 grams of the same substance worth PHP680,000 from alias “Yur” during a sting operation at his residence in Barangay Alijis.

The suspect, who was previously arrested for a drug-related offense as a minor in 2023, was endorsed to the custody of Police Station 7 for the filing of new charges.

In San Carlos City, police also apprehended 27-year-old store owner alias “Ry” Friday night after an operation yielded 335.87 grams of shabu valued at PHP2.283 million.

“The suspect is a store and junkshop owner who allegedly uses his sari-sari (retail) store as a front for his illegal activities,” the PRO-NIR report said. (PNA)
