MANILA (Mabuhay) -– Singer Christian Bautista revealed he has been asked to run for public office in his hometown in Cavite.
Bautista, however, said that he is not keen on entering politics as of now.
“Sa ngayon, mag-focus na lang ako dito sa non-profit [organization]. It’s the Lord’s will na lang kung mapupunta dun ang direction pero sa ngayon hindi ko muna siya ini-entertain pero I’ve been asked about it,” he said.
Bautista believes he can give back to his hometown in other ways apart from joining politics.
“Now I’m giving back. I’m starting a non-profit organization in Imus, Cavite. I’m calling it Imus Volunteers. We might launch it in June. It’s harnessing the youthful energy of my city in Imus, Cavite,” he said.
The balladeer said he intends to use his status as a celebrity to help others.
“I’ve been given this big, big opportunity in this industry to be an influence… So habang meron pa I want to influence for the good,” he said.
Whatever he accomplishes in life, Baustista said his heart will always belong to the place where he grew up. (MNS)
