(Relaxnews) – The 3D version of “Jurassic Park” is on top of this week’s ranking of the most lucrative films worldwide, with $30 million in total revenues. Already nearing the end of its run in Western markets, the Steven Spielberg film owes this week’s successful earnings to its arrival in China, where it brought in $28.8 million during its first six days in theaters, ending on Sunday, August 25.

According to Rentrak, “Jurassic Park 3D” is on top this week in a box office where the summer’s global blockbusters are running out of steam. Out in 48 territoires, Neill Blomkamp’s “Elysium” is in second place with just $27.1 million in revenues.

The science-fiction feature, headlined by Matt Damon, is ahead of “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters,” which took in $23.6 million (44 territories). In fourth place, the comedy “We’re the Millers,” starring Jennifer Aniston, saw revenues of $21.8 million (20 territories).

Within the North American market, “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” claimed the leading position for the second consecutive week. The historical drama starring Forest Whitaker brought in $17 million, bringing its total revenues to $52.3 million. The film, filmed on a budget of $30 million, is currently in theaters in the US and Canada and will arrive in additional markets from early September.
