(Relaxnews) – “How I Met Your Dad” will not make its way to the small screen after all, at least not on CBS. The network decided to scrap the comedy, making way instead for “The McCarthys” and “The Odd Couple.”

The buzz surrounding the “How I Met Your Mother” spin-off was not enough to save the project. CBS was not convinced by the pilot, which aimed to capture the spirit of the original comedy, but with a new protagonist and plot.

The network executives asked the show’s creators, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, to shoot another test episode, as is often requested when a pilot is seen as unsatisfactory but nonetheless has a certain potential (“The Big Bang Theory,” for example). But the two creators refused.

As a result, “How I Met Your Dad” seems unlikely to reach the airwaves, unless 20th Century Fox finds another network willing to pick it up.
