A minute’s worth of footage from May’s Marvel outing “Captain America: Civil War” aired during the 2016 MTV Movie Awards, offering a glimpse at how Cap, Falcon, and Scarlet Witch will be teaming up in the action film.
The trio of superheroes combine for around half of the clip, which checks in at just over a minute, with the rest of it reminding viewers of the feud brewing between Captain America and the Avengers’ other pillar, Iron Man.
Captain America (Chris Evans), Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) combine to infiltrate a heavily guarded compount replete with armed patrols and poison gas.
Falcon then swoops in to clear out an elevated guard post; Scarlet Witch shows just what her reality manipulation ability can do when it comes to setting up a knockout blow for the jetpack-powered birdman.
As the third of three in Marvel’s planned “Captain America” trilogy, the “Civil War” installment is also the first entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s third phase.
The two previous phases have encompassed six films each, but Phase Three has already expanded to include ten titles — 11, even, counting the two-part “Avengers: Infinity War.”
To that end, the MTV clip also showed just how sour relations have turned for superhero group The Avengers, the former colleagues now engaged in a war of words and deeds.
There’s also a brief chance to see new character Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman, who will get his own title feature in 2018 at the hands of “Creed” director Ryan Coogler.
