MANILA – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Wednesday reminded the public to adhere to drone regulations.

“In line with the Bagong Pilipinas initiative of the Marcos administration, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., together with the Department of Transportation and CAAP, emphasizes the responsible use of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA), commonly known as drones, to avoid serious threats to lives and airspace security,” CAAP said in a news release.

Commercial drone operations require an authorization certificate from CAAP, and operators must also coordinate with local government units to comply with local drone ordinances.

Drones are allowed in areas outside of the 10-km. no-fly zones around airports.

The public is urged to keep the drone within visual line of sight at all times, and to avoid flying drones during strong winds or poor visibility.

They are also encouraged to report any injury or property damage caused by drone use within 48 hours.

The CAAP further advised the public not to fly drones over crowds, ongoing emergencies, and sensitive facilities.

They should also avoid flying drones at night or from moving vehicles, it said. (PNA)
