The Manila Symphony Orchestra plays beautiful music in a concert at the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City on Sunday (May 7, 2023) evening. During the concert organized by the Italian Embassy, the orchestra played songs by Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi, who is best known for his orchestral music. Famous overtures performed in the event include “I Vespri Siciliani, La Forza del Destini, Giovanni d’Arco, Luisa Miller and Nabuco. Italian Ambassador Marco Clemente said it might be the first time that Verdi’s ballabili pieces (tune or song that can be danced to) were heard in the Philippines as these are rarely performed in operas. (PNA photo by Avito C.
