(Relaxnews) – New pages on the Adidas website oriented towards app developers indicate that Adidas might soon be opening its miCoach platform for compatibility with other apps.
It’s likely the miCoach tools for fitness tracking and perhaps even coaching will soon be accessible from many apps unrelated to Adidas.
MiCoach is the platform of Adidas’s wearable trackers and its coaching electronics the Adidas Smart Ball and the miCoach Elite training system, a smart soccer jersey to outfit entire teams, and which outfitted nearly 20 World Cup teams.
Since most apps and wearables are limited strictly to fitness tracking and aren’t known to provide actual coaching, it’s possible although not certain that such data from miCoach could soon find its way to otherwise ordinary apps.
Adidas has just released its latest miCoach accessory, Fit Smart, which is equipped with an accelerometer and capable of logging up to 10 hours of exercise time.
Although the API isn’t yet released, app builders can subscribe to receive the information when it’s made available.
