MANILA – Cabinet Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. on Friday vowed justice and government support for the family of slain transport network vehicle service (TNVS) rider Fabio Norberte Jr.
Abalos visited Norberte’s wake to convey President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s condolences to the bereaved family.
During the visit, Abalos provided financial assistance, assured the family of the government’s continued support, and vowed that authorities would pursue justice.
A former Interior and Local Government secretary, Abalos also committed to personally assist Norberte’s child, who has autism, and said he would coordinate with the family to ensure the child receives continued support.
He also assured the family that the government would work with the appropriate agencies to provide the assistance they need as efforts to bring those responsible to justice continue.
Norberte, a Move It rider, was fatally stabbed with an ice pick by a passenger while on duty in Caloocan on Tuesday (July 14). The attack was captured on CCTV.
The suspect allegedly stole Norberte’s motorcycle, fled the scene, and later attempted to snatch a mobile phone from another victim in Malabon City, where he was caught and subdued. (PNA)
