MANILA – The Israel Embassy in Manila on Tuesday expressed its condolences to the family of Lucille Jane Gershovich, a 29-year-old Filipino, killed in a missile attack in Haifa, Israel.

Gershovich was killed together with her Israeli husband, Dmitry Gershovich, and parents-in-law, Vladimir Gershovich and Lena Ostrovsky.

“Two generations of one family were killed in this attack, another stark reminder that the Iranian regime continues to target civilians indiscriminately,” said the embassy in a statement.

“Israel stands in profound solidarity with the bereaved family and the Filipino community, and shares in the grief over the loss of a Filipino life. We mourn together and honor their memory with dignity,” it added.

The Department of Foreign Affairs earlier said the Philippines is arranging for the earliest possible repatriation of Lucille Jane’s remains despite the current travel situation in the region.

She is the second Filipino national killed in a missile attack in Israel since the Middle East conflict broke out.

On Feb. 28, Filipina caregiver Mary Ann de Vera was killed when she was hit by shrapnel from an Iranian missile strike while she was accompanying her elderly ward to a shelter in Tel Aviv. (PNA)
