LEGAZPI CITY – Authorities seized suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP4.08 million and arrested a drug suspect during a buy-bust operation in Daet, Camarines Sur on Tuesday, an official said.
In a report on Wednesday, Brig. Gen. Erosito Miranda, director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 5 (Bicol), identified the suspect as “Roland,” 32, from Paracale, Camarines Norte, who was nabbed after selling the illegal stuff to an undercover agent during the operation.
One large heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet and five knot-tied plastic sachets weighing about 600 grams of suspected shabu were confiscated from the suspect.
The suspect and the confiscated shabu are now in the custody of the Daet Municipal Police for proper disposition.
Charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are currently being prepared against the suspect.
Miranda lauded the operating units for the successful conduct of the operation and underscored the police force’s continuing commitment to the fight against illegal drugs.
“I commend our joint operating units for their strong coordination and effective execution of this operation. PRO-5 stays committed to boosting intelligence efforts and intensifying our campaign to stop illegal drugs before reaching communities,” Miranda said.
The operation was carried out through the joint efforts of operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 5, Daet Police, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of Camarines Norte, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 5, among others. (PNA)
