MANILA – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued two fisherfolk after their eight-meter fishing boat capsized due to rough seas off Lantawan, Basilan on Sunday.

In a situation report on Monday, the PCG said the two fishers were left adrift for two hours before they were sighted at 11 a.m. by a passing ship, ML Sea Dayang, which reported the sighting to the PCG’s BRP Melchora Aquino for assistance.

“Upon arrival, the 97-meter multi-role response vessel deployed its rigid hull inflatable boat to safely extract the survivors,” it said.

The fishers were administered first aid and given an initial medical assessment in coordination with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

“Both individuals were found to be in stable condition,” the PCG said.

The rescued individuals were later transported to the PCG Sub-Station Lantawan for further assistance. (PNA)
