The Filipino American Symphony Orchestra ( FASO) played to a very appreciative audience rendering a kind of music that elevated appreciation to classical music several notches higher.
There was also a collected pride that in their midst exists a group of talented musicians extremely dedicated to their craft.
Dubbed as the “Celebration”, the two-hour treat was held at the prestigious Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles over the weekend.
It was a happy reunion for FASO and the music-loving Filipino community who heard them last in 2019. Even the pandemic could not hinder them from enjoying their music by taking the precaution of donning masks however inconvenient.
The 66-piece orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Robert Shroder , fascinated the audience with such classics as Prelude, Aragonaise, Intermezzo, Les dragons d’Alcala , Les Toreadors to name a few .
The highlight of the “Celebration” was the full orchestra performance featuring the music of Jose Mari Chan whose musical career spanned decades. He was joined by his family for the occasion. Recognizing the music icon’s contribution to Philippine music, Mr. Jose Mari Chan was honored with FASO’s Excellence in Music Award by Dr. Edith Winterhalter and Mr. Louie Ramos , FASO’s President and Vice President , respectively.
FASO Junior Orchestra and Youth String Ensemble also played with the main 66- member orchestra.

FASO is extending its  thanks to all their benefactors and supporters for making the event possible with special mention to Ms. Nena Zosa in honor of her late husband Dr. Noli Zosa for their untiring support over the years.         After this successful concert, FASO is gearing up for its next scheduled performance  ” A FASO Christmas ” on December 3, 2022, at the Aratani Theater in Los Angeles.
