MANILA – Four individuals were arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City after they were caught carrying 151.3 kilograms of suspected kush (high-grade marijuana) with an estimated street value of PHP227 million, the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) said on Tuesday.

In a statement, PDEG chief Brig. Gen. Edwin Quilates said the suspects, with aliases Jenet, Bryan, Cyril, and Erwin, were arrested during the controlled delivery operation conducted at the International Customs Arrival Area of NAIA Terminal 3 on Sept. 7.

He said the arrested suspects and recovered evidence were immediately brought to the PDEA Laboratory Service National Headquarters in Quezon City for laboratory examination.

The arrest was carried out in coordination with the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, of which the PDEG is a member.

PDEA seizes P6.8-M shabu in Zamboanga

Meanwhile, operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 9 (PDEA RO9) arrested a drug suspect and seized PHP6.8 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sinunuc, Zamboanga City on Monday.

The suspect, alias Almisal, yielded one kilogram of suspected shabu concealed in a gold tea pack labeled Guanyinwang.

The suspect will be charged with Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002). (PNA)
