MANILA – Police arrested two persons, including a Chinese national, and seized PHP150 million worth of unregistered and substandard consumer products in Noveleta, Cavite.
The joint operation on March 24 stemmed from a tip on the storage and sale of uncertified goods at a warehouse in an industrial complex in Barangay San Rafael IV, according to a Philippine National Police (PNP) news release over the weekend.
Authorities said the two male suspects, “Li” and “Bran,” were involved in the packaging, storage and sale of footwear, cosmetics, and electronic gadgets that allegedly did not meet required standards.
Initial findings showed that while the business itself is registered, the products being handled were not properly certified by the Department of Trade and Industry.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious business activities in their communities.
“Kapag may kahina-hinalang operasyon, ipagbigay-alam agad sa awtoridad. Sama-sama nating protektahan ang ating mga mamimili at ang ating ekonomiya (If there is any suspicious activity, notify the authorities immediately. Together, let’s protect our consumers and our economy),” Nartatez said. (PNA)
