CEBU CITY – The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Central Visayas seized at least 6.9 kilos of shabu worth PHP47.1 million during a two-day anti-criminality and law enforcement operations in the region, a police official said Friday.

Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, director of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7), said the operations from June 3 to 5 also resulted in the arrest of 117 suspected drug personalities.

Drug charges are being readied against the suspects.

“Our intention is very clear: To stop the proliferation of drugs in Central Visayas and take lawless criminals off the streets. We will never stop until you are arrested,” Aberin said.

Among the suspects arrested on Wednesday was 44-year-old resort employee, Joebert Estoque, who is known to be a new drug player in Tagbilaran City’s supposed drug-cleared barangay of San Isidro.

Estoque yielded PHP374,000 worth of suspected shabu.

Meanwhile, the PNP in the region also apprehended 109 illegal gamblers and seized PHP9,689 bet money.

During the same period, the police also arrested eight violators of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, and confiscated 86 loose firearms. (PNA)
