MANILA – Two cops are facing criminal and administrative charges for allegedly creating public disturbance inside a bar in Quezon City, the National Capital Region Police Office said Thursday.

In a statement, NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said alarm and scandal as well as malicious mischief complaints were filed against the cops with the rank of patrolman and corporal.

“They are now under restrictive custody. They are facing criminal cases of alarms and scandals, and malicious mischief,” Aberin said.

He said the cops also face administrative charges with a maximum penalty of dismissal from the service.

Police report showed the two cops entered the KTV bar around 1 a.m. on Wednesday allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Witnesses stated that they ordered multiple bottles of beer and began to create disturbances shortly after.

At around 2 a.m., the bar’s manager called the nearest police station for assistance as the two police officers began throwing ice cubes at waiters and other customers.

Aberin said they have long banned police from entering bars, nightclubs and similar public drinking establishments.

He reminded NCRPO personnel that acts unbecoming of a police officer would be met with swift and decisive action. (PNA)
